Why Nasional Montessori?
For more than 20 years, Nasional Montessori has efficiently carried out its unique integrated Montessori curriculum that naturally works with the children’s developmental needs. Being a child-centered preschool, the emphasis is always respect for each child’s interest and abilities. True to Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy of education, Nasional Montessori aims for the fullest possible development of the whole child, ultimately preparing him for life’s many rich experiences. There are 5 inter-connected fundamental learning areas: Practical Life, Sensorial Arts, Language, Mathematics and Cultural Arts. Moreover, Nasional Montessori offers a bilingual program, with English as the medium of instruction and Mandarin as its secondary language from Playgroup to Preparatory. The classroom has a productive atmosphere, where everyone is busy and joy and respect naturally abound. Within such a rich learning environment, freedom, responsibility, social and intellectual development spontaneously flourish.
Shaping young minds for a better tomorrow
Nasional Montessori’s approach to educating young minds emphasizes independence. It is our goal to make the child independent and be able to do things for himself. It is achieved by giving them opportunities. Thus, in Nasional Montessori, we give the children opportunities to move about, to dress by themselves, to choose what they want to do (in matters where they are safe in doing so) and to help with adult tasks.
When the children are able to do things for themselves, there is an increase in self-belief, self-confidence, and esteem that they may carry on through-out their lives. When they possess this inner discipline until their adult years, they become major players in the society where they belong. They don’t just follow…they lead.
Children are given freedom and choice. At an early age, they are guided to choose and work on materials that will answer their need at that moment. They are guided to make the right choices. Moreover, teachers feed their inquiring minds in a way that they can understand. Fulfilling their needs is the key to help young children to develop their full potentials.
